Abstract
In this paper, the durability and strength of coal gangue (CG) based geopolymer concrete by adding granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) were studied systematically. The effects of the GBFS content and alkali activator modulus on the fluidity, strength, freeze–thaw resistance, chlorides penetration resistance, and microstructure of alkali activated GBFS-CG were analyzed. The results showed that the freeze–thaw resistance of geopolymer concrete can be improved by more than two times with proper GBFS content and alkali activator modulus. The deterioration of pores caused by freeze–thaw attack was the main reason for the reduction of strength and chloride penetration resistance.
