Abstract

Low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication, as an important part of current satellite communication networks, has attracted intensive research interest in the communication sphere due to its specific advantages such as short transmission delay, small losses and good inter-satellite link quality. At present, LEO constellations have been widely applied in the communication services. Based on two pillars, namely, the key techniques and correlated hotspot issues, this paper targeted the typical researches as well as the latest progresses. We focused on the development of cellular networks and multi-beam technique concerning LEO satellite communication. After discussing existing handover schemes and challenges, we proposed some future directions.
