Abstract

Carbon nanotubes(CNTs) show the characteristics of high modulus and high strength in mechanical properties, and also have good deformation properties. Therefore, when carbon nanotubes are added to the composites, they can bear large stress and greatly absorb energy, so as to increase the durability of the composites. This paper preparaed the CNTs- Carbon fibers(CF)/epoxy resin composite prepreg and the interlaminar fracture toughness of the composites was investigated. The analysis shows that after introducing a samll amount of carbon nanotubes into carbon fiber/ epoxy resin composites, carbon nanotubes can hinder the dislocation movement and crack propagation in the resin matrix(i.e. the area between carbon fibers) to improve the fracture initiation of materials.
