Abstract

The complex electromagnetic interference in substation could bring great influence to the on-line detection of partial discharge. Therefore, how to resist interference in PD detection has been the most critical point. At present, the main PD detection methods include UHF (ultrahigh frequency) detection and HF (high frequency) current detection. In this paper, substation with representative geographical location and voltage level were selected, and UHF and HF current method are used to detect the time-domain, frequency-domain and statistical characteristics of typical electromagnetic interference in substation. Studies have shown that the two main types of electromagnetic interference in PD detection are mobile communication signals and pulse discharges outside the device. From the characteristic analysis, the external pulse discharge is very similar to the PD signal, which is very easy to affect the PD detection.
