Abstract

The estimation result of the initial rotor position for permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) maybe reverse with traditional pulsing high-frequency voltage signal injection method, since this method cannot recognize N/S rotor polarity. A new method was proposed to identify rotor initial position based on motor saliency image. N/S polarity was distinguished by analyzing the second high-frequency current component with rotor position error information, and then initial rotor position can be easily obtained. The experiment was implemented on a permanent magnet synchronous motor with salient pole. The experimental results verified the proposed approach and achieved the valid rotor position polarity identification.
