Abstract
This paper deals with theoretically a new type of high-precision low-speed hydrodynamic bearing, with its structural features and experimental and practical results being also presented. This type of bearing features a high rotating accuracy and good low speed hydrodynamic efficiency. An ovality of 0.02mm and a surface roughness of Ra 0.02mm in grinding a bore, for example, can be achieved by adopting such kind of bearing on the workhead of a cylindrical grinding machine.
