Abstract

Ag-In-Sb-Te multinary alloy is one of the most challenging materials for use in the phase change recording media. In this investigation, an Ag-In-Sb-Te recording film was sandwiched between two ZnS–SiO2 layers. And the layer structure of the phase change disc was polycarbonate substrate / ZnS:SiO2 100 nm / Ag-In-Sb-Te 18 nm / ZnS:SiO2 20 nm / Al-Cr 95 nm, which was determined from the optical simulation with the results confirmed from the analyses. Finally, a disc with good optical recording properties was performed.
