Abstract

In the experimental study of pressure oscillation in combustion instability of solid rocket motor, the thermoacoustic effect of carbon fiber can be used to generate a large amplitude of pressure oscillation. However, the traditional carbon fiber cannot work stably for a long time with large heat release power. Therefore, this study focuses on improving the working time and heat release power of carbon fiber, and the effect of the morphology of carbon fiber on heat release characteristics is studied. Firstly, the heat release characteristics of woven and non-woven carbon fiber are simulated and analyzed. Secondly, the sounding device based on the heat release of carbon fiber are established. The influence of different diameters (12 k, 36 k, 48 k, 64 k) of woven carbon fiber yarns on the heat release characteristics are studied. Finally, the heat release characteristics of woven and non-woven carbon fibers under air and nitrogen atmosphere are compared, respectively. The results show that the stable working time and heat release power of woven carbon fiber yarns in nitrogen atmosphere are higher than those of non-woven counterparts in air. The working time of woven carbon fiber yarns in air is about 4.21 times longer, and the heat release power is about 5.5 times higher than that of non-woven carbon fiber yarns.
