Abstract
On the basis of orthogonal experiment method, the grind-hardening of 65Mn steel had been carried out on a conventional surface grinder with alumina grinding wheel, the influence of depth of cut a p , table speed v w , grinding mode g m , and interaction between depth of cut and table speed av on grinding force were investigated. The results show that, all factors influencing the mean value of tangential grinding force F mt are insignificant factor and av can be regarded as abandoned factor, in addition the significance ratio from most to least as followed: v w > a p > g m > a v ; all factors influencing the mean value of normal grinding force F mn are significant factor, in addition the significance ratio from most to least as followed: a p > v w > g m > av. Relatively smaller grinding force and completely grind-hardened layer workpiece can be obtained when using grinding conditions that the a p = 0.2mm, the v w = 0.2m/min, and the g m =up grinding + down grinding in practical applications.
