Abstract

This study examines gender equility consciousness and performance status through investigating the data collected from 208 child care center teachers in Incheon, Seo-gu. The result is as follows. First, gender quility consciousness of teachers is mostly high-level. Socio-cultural area is the highest among sub areas, but home life area is the lowest. Second, the level of performance status for gender equility is generally high level. But in playing activity, especially role-playing. there is a tendency to use discriminative language and color, depending on sex. In addition, there is a significant difference in play instruction of teachers, depending on individual circumstance. Younger a infant in class is, higher level of performance status is. On the contrary, older age is, lower level of performance status is. Especially, whether teachers have education experience on gender equility affects performance status for gender equility. The results show that gender equility consciousness, especially consciousness on education life, is directly associated to performance status. Therefore, continuous education on gender equility is important for improving performance status on gender equility in child care teachers.
