Abstract
Magnetically controlled shape memory alloy (MSMA) is a class of smart materials that changes shape when it is exposed to a moderate magnetic field, which provides a new way to produce motion and force. On the other hand, the MSMA material can change its magnetic property when it is subjected to load force, which is known as reverse characteristics of MSMA material. In this paper, shape variation mechanism and permeability performance of MSMA material are introduced. A testing device, which is used to measure MSMA reverse characteristics, is studied under the action of load force. Static and dynamic force sensors are designed and tested Experimental results show that the input-output curves have good linearity.
