Abstract

The main object of the present paper is to analyze (by F.E.M.) the stress at each part (gear tooth, gear rim) of a force-fitted spur gear in consideration of load sharing. On the other hand, a practical formula of maximum tensile residual stress in the radial direction caused by internal pressure and a determining method of fitting interference are discussed. The following conclusions are obtained. (1) From this study, the stress distribution at the root fillet of tooth and the fitting surface in consideration of load sharing is clarified. (2) A practical formula to estimate the maximum tensile residual stress in the radial direction which reduces the internal pressure at the fitting surface is introduced. (3) A theoretical method for the determination of fitting interference of a force-fitted spur gear could be shown.
