Abstract

Based on Zhuhai Miaowan artificial reef demonstration project, this paper studied the flow field characteristics of single box artificial reef and reef group under different spacing by using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method. The results show that the box artificial reef has a significant effect on flow field. The maximum upwelling height near the reef is about 1.4 times the reef height, and the length of the back vortex is twice the reef size. In the reef group arrangement, the flow field distribution plays the best performance at the 5m spacing arrangement. The research results can provide guidance for reef structure optimization and practical arrangement in site.
