Abstract

The electron temperature obtained by optical emission spectroscopy was studied in an ablative pulsed plasma thruster. The validity of partial local thermodynamic equilibrium criteria for the correct spectroscopic determination of the electron temperature can be proved and the spectral absorption of the plasma was calculated and ignored. It is shown that the existence of two distinguishable electron groups is found. The variation trends of the part data of the experiment are in agreement with those of Gatsonis and Markusic under some conditions, respectively. Combined with the discharge current, the variation of the electron temperature and the transferring process of electron energy were discussed.
