Abstract

In order to fabricate deep-narrow groove, a tube electrode was introduced in electrochemical milling process. A flow field model was established to theoretically verify the feasibility of electrochemical milling with tube electrode in the fabrication of deep-narrow groove. A series of experiments were conducted to confirm the contribution of the tube electrode. In the experiments, a tube with outer diameter of 0.8 mm was utilized to machine groove on the 304 stainless steel by electrochemical milling. And the influence of electrolyte pressure, power parameter and feeding speed on the profile precision of the deep-narrow groove was analysed. Under optimized processing parameter, a deep-narrow groove with width of 1 mm and depth of 2.5 mm was fabricated with high precision and steep wall by this process.
