Abstract

Transport and handling machines (THM) based on truck chassis used for road construction and maintenance are high-risk vehicles due to their large weight and high location of the gravity center (Evtiukov et al. 2018, Kravchenko and Oleshchenko 2017, Repin et al. 2018). Design perfection and damping characteristics of THM base chassis suspension define the reliability of road/wheel contact in various road conditions and the stability of a vehicle on uneven roads and in turns. The article describes the design of a new hydraulic-pneumatic shock-absorber — a major suspension element responsible for its damping characteristics and presents the results of theoretical studies on elastic and vibration-damping properties of the shock-absorber.
