Abstract

ABSTRACT Electrodeposition of Ni-α nano Al2O3 particle was carried out on Aluminium 6061. The study optimized electrodeposition conditions were found to be 40°C, 2 A/dm2, 6 g/L of temperature, current density, and percentage of particle concentration respectively. Further Taguchi method was extended to fine tune the optimized conditions obtained by L27 orthogonal array of parameters for modified study which resulted in better wear resistance with coating conditions of 40°C, 1.75 A/dm2 and 4.5 g/L of temperature, current density and percentage of particle concentration respectively. The dispersion of particles was found more uniform with very few nickel crystals with dendrite structure.
