Abstract

0.5LaFe0.5Co0.5O3-Bi4Ti3O12 thin films were prepared via the sol–gel method on (111)Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si(100) substrates. The thin films have a single-phase Aurivillius perovskite structure with a space group Fmm2 under X-ray diffraction analysis. As expected, the coexistence of ferromagnetic and ferroelectric properties was spotted at room temperature. The remanent polarization ( $2P_{r}$ ) and the saturated magnetization ( $M_{s}$ ) are $48~\mu \text{C}$ /cm2 and 2.0 emu/cm3, respectively. Then, the magnetodielectric effect was observed at room temperature with a magnetodielectric coefficient of 0.75% under a small magnetic field of 0.5 T. Besides, two dielectric relaxation behaviors were observed, which were connected with the coexistence of Fe2+ as well as Fe3+ and existence of oxygen vacancy in the thin films, respectively.
