Abstract

A new type of PMSM with double rotors, used in underwater vehicle, makes the propulsion devices become simpler and more efficient. The structure of this motor is greatly different with the conventional ones, and the study of control strategy for this motor is on the primary stage. In this paper, the structure of the motor which is used in underwater vehicle system is introduced. To control the speed of underwater vehicle, the mathematical models of propeller torque, underwater vehicle, and PMSM with double rotors are established. The simulation shows that the PMSM with double rotors is feasible on the propulsion system. These works lay a foundation for the further application of this motor.
