Abstract
This is a report on result of contact rolling failure of DH (head-hardened) rail using the high speed rail testing machine, which had been developed to simulate Shinkansen's truck. The contact rolling defects in DH rail had been also observed in laboratory. The total passing tonnage to failure of DH rail becomes remarkably smaller than that of plain carbon rail tested before. This tendency corresponds with case of actual rail in service.
