Abstract

20735 Background: To explore the effects of Chinese herbal medicine LC07 infusion external treatment on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. Methods: We tested LC07 infusion external treatment for 4 weeks in 32 patients with peripheral neuropathy grade ≥1 (National Cancer Institute- NCI) or hand-foot-syndrome (HFS) grade ≥1 (Common Toxicity Criteria- CTC) during or after paclitaxel or oxaliplatin or capecitabine therapy. 0.5% LC07 infusion soaked the feet and hands, 30min,Bid. An independent researcher assessed patients before and after LC07. Curative: Grade 0 or symptoms disappear completely. Effective: Grade decreases more than 1 level. Total efficiency: effective and curative. Results: All patients except two reported symptom relief without any side effect as tetter, allergy or other uncomfortable. Total effective of all patients was 93.8% (30/32), curative 56.2% (18/32).Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) on spontaneous pain decreased from 5.5 to 1.6 (P<0.01). The average time from therapy beginning to effective is 5.7±3.2 days. 11 patients who had experienced oxaliplatin-caused peripheral neuropathy status last chemotherapy cycle 21.2±13.1 days, compared with neuropathy status this chemotherapy cycle with LC07 therapy 7.9±3.6 days (P<0.01). Conclusions: LC07 (compound herbal medicine including Herba Geranii and Aconiyum carmichaeli) is effective and convenient in clinical without any side effect which can treat chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. Thus improve quality of life and help chemotherapy progress. No significant financial relationships to disclose.
