Abstract

Objective To comprehend patient safety culture status of nursing staff in a class AAA hospital in Beijing and to explore factors influencing the culture. Methods 1 337 nurses in this class AAA hospital in Beijing were selected by convenience sampling, and were surveyed with a questionnaire of hospital survey on patient safety culture (HSOPSC, Chinese version). Results The average score of nurses′ awareness on patient safety culture was (3.79±0.37) points. Comparison of nurses′ scores on hospital patient safety culture showed statistic difference due to their working years, departments, and genders (t=1.793, 6.230, 0.706; P<0.05). Conclusions Patient safety culture awareness among nurses in class AAA hospital was above the medium level, with the overall performance satisfactory, yet some dimensions to be improved.
