Abstract
Objective To study the effect of surgical treatment of avulsion fracture of the tibial intercondylar eminence with arthroscope. Methods From November 2001 to August 2006,42 patients with avulsion fractures of the tibial intercondylar eminence were treated with arthroscope. The mean age of the patients was 26.5 years. There were 8 type Ⅱ fractures,14 type ⅢA fractures,12 type ⅢB fractures and 8 type Ⅳ fractures. The avulsed fragment was reduced and fixed with a wire under arthroscopy. Results Of 42 cases ,37 cases were followed up, The mean follow-up period was 26 months (ranging from 7 to 52 months).Lysholm knee score was evaluated. The mean Lysholm knee scores in postoperation were 96 (range,80-100), while the scores in preoperation were 26 (range,0 -72).Conclusion Stainless steel wire fixation for avulsion fracture of the tibial intereondylar eminence with arthroscope achieves fragment reduction easily, provides rigid fixation while avoiding arthrotomy, allowing early mobilization and return to activity. The small wound method of operation has applied value. Key words: Knee joint arthrescope; Tibial intercondylar eminence avulsion fracture
