Abstract

The main nozzle is a key component in the weft insertion system and the internal airflow characteristic affects the efficiency of an air-jet loom and fabric quality. In order to improvement the weft insertion rate, a kind of new main nozzle is designed by adding a polygon slots inside the needle. In this paper, the transonic/supersonic airflows is numerical simulation with FLUENT software. The distribution of the airflow pressure and axis velocity of the main nozzle are obtained by changing the air tank pressures and geometry of the main nozzle. The numerical results indicated that the velocity along the axis direction is obvious increased by fabricated a pentagon slot inside the needle.
