Abstract

A new composite piezoelectric beam is proposed for gyroscope application in this paper. The beam is made of lithium niobate plate with a ferroelectric inversion layer. The flexural vibration of the beam is investigated by one-dimensional beam theory, considering the effects of Coriolis force and centrifugal force. The governing equations are obtained for the analysis of the flexural vibration under the driving voltage. The effects of angular velocity, electrical impendence of the output circuit, and frequencies of a rotating piezoelectric beam are studied through a numerical example.
