Abstract

In recent years, complication and expansion of power systems have been progressing. Under such a situation, the electric power supply with stability and high reliability is required. However, the fault current has been increasing and the large-scale blackout may be caused. For such a problem, FCL (fault current limiter) is expected. In this paper, the suppression method of the system swing by using the active type FCL and SDR (system damping resistor) together is proposed. FCL and SDR are installed at the generator terminal and power swing is suppressed by giving both acceleration and deceleration energy to the power system. Computer simulations of the on-off control of FCL and SDR are carried out for the longitudinal and the loop model systems. The comparatively good results are obtained and the stabilization control in the phase plane analysis of the generators after the fault is reported.
