Abstract

Unlike EXAFS, the x-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) is not even qualitatively well understood at present. Need for studies to extend our understanding of the XANES could not, therefore, be overemphasized. Present efforts comprise an exerimental study of the XANES in the vicinity of the K absorption edge in Fe, Co and Cu metals and some of their compounds. The large number of reports published on these materials, for example [1,2,3], do not discuss the XANES as such except in a scattered way.KeywordsChemical ShiftInteratomic DistanceWhite LineSymmetric StateEdge StructureThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
