Abstract

The JANZOS collaboration was formed soon after the supernova SN1987a was detected for the purpose of monitoring ultrahigh energy (TeV to PeV) γray emission by the supernova. The collaboration includes members from Japan, Australia and New Zealand [1]. The detection of ultrahigh energy γ rays could indicate that young supemovae are significant sources of ultrahigh energy cosmic rays with the γ rays being produced in interactions at the source [2].
