Abstract

Present work reports the synthesis of Europium doped strontium borate (Eu2+: SrB4O7) using solution combustion route with urea as fuel. Also the thermo-luminescence properties of the as prepared phosphor are investigated. Phase analysis of the prepared compound was carried out using X-ray diffraction analysis and surface morphology was studied using Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM) images. Photoluminescence (PL) study was used to confirm the optical transition that occurs due to the formation of defects in the presence of doped ions. The trapping parameters of the sample exposed to a dose of 100 Gy of Co-60, 6 MV and 16 MV photons were calculated using PS method with the help of TL glow curves. Single TL peak observed in these phosphors makes this phosphor useful for monitoring the ionizing radiation in nuclear industries.
