Abstract
AbstractThe trajectory of clusters ejected in the freeboard by gas bubbles bursting at the surface of fluidized beds is used to propose a new way to determine the transport disengaging height (TDH). As the effect of the drag force is negligible for the largest clusters, the maximum height they reach in the freeboard is directly proportional to the square of their ejection velocity. The maximum heights thus calculated are in good agreement with experimental TDH values from the literature. A procedure is given to compute the TDH from this simple expression.
