Abstract

It is shown that coupling Raman and photoelectrochemical imaging (ca 1μm resolution) in the same experiment yields interesting information when studying complex corrosion mechanisms, particularly when the scales exhibit spatial heterogeneities. Correlations between the spatial distributions of chemical, structural and electronic properties of the corrosion products will be presented and discussed, for the case of scales resulting from high temperature oxidation of ferritic stainless steels.
