Abstract

Measurements of the susceptibility, crystal structure and nuclear magnetic resonance of the Sc2In phase are reported here. The structure has been identified as the Ni2In type (filled NiAs) with c/a = 1.2489. The susceptibility and nuclear magnetic resonance give no evidence of any electronic transition or change in the crystal structure between room temperature and 4.2 K. The Sc2In phase shows no signs of any ferromagnetic or anti-ferromagnetic behaviour as seen previously in Sc3In.
