Abstract

The C-4 ionograms taken at New Delhi during the period May 1958–May 1959 have been analysed. Different types of E s are identified and their percentage occurrence is shown with the help of histogram. The blanketing of the E s -layer is defined and its correlation with the occurrence of multiple E s -reflection has been found. A positive correlation between the E s occurrence, the critical frequency of the E s -layer and the solar activity is obtained and is illustrated graphically. The effect of meteoric showers and sporadic meteors on the E s -ionization is discussed.
