Abstract

A systematic electrochemical study of the system Ag− (I) in ethylamine (Y−) medium on vitreous carbon electrode, as a more environmentally friendly alternative for the silver electrodeposition, was carried out through non-stationary electrochemical techniques. This study shows that the reduction process involves both the AgY 2 + species adsorbed on the vitreous carbon electrode and the AgY 2 + species in the bulk solution (the estimation of the quantity of the adsorbed species is performed). On the other hand, the oxidation process of the metallic silver was carried out by two oxidation processes: formation of AgY 2 + and AgOH ↓.
