Abstract

In some clothing enterprises, it has been reported that some clothing with the same style and size but with different fabrics show the different effects. Some fit, but others do not fit. It shows that the fabric properties affect the fit of clothing. Some research results indicate the fabric weight, drape and tensile properties are major factors [1,2]. This paper studies the quantitative relationship between the GEA (girth ease allowance) and the fabric drape. The indicators of jacket fabric parameters (thickness, weight and drape performance) were tested. Clothing samples with the same styles and the same specifications 175/96A were made with twelve kinds of fabrics, and then try them on the standard mannequin respectively. Through scanning the mannequin before and after it wears clothes respectively by 3D body scanner, intercepting the curve of required parts and then analyzing the GEA in different parts of the garment. Finally, this research finds the quantitative relationship between the GEA and fabric drape, which providing scientific data for clothing pattern design and improving the clothing fitness.
