Abstract

1. The principles of formation of impurity paramagnetic centers (PC) inγ-irradiated salts with oxygen-containing anions were established. The probability of formation of hole PC inγ-irradiated salts is determined by the ratio of the ionization potentials of the anions of the matrix and impurity: PC arise only in the case when the ionization potential of the impurity anion is lower than the corresponding value for the anion of the matrix. The probability of formation of electronic PC is related to the electron affinity of the corresponding oxyanions. 2. The appearance of impurity PC inγ-irradiated salts containing impurity anions is associated with the transfer of free electrons and holes from the matrix to the impurity.
