Abstract

1. The interaction of AlEt3 with benzoyl peroxide (BP) in the presence of ethyl acetate (EA) was studied. The introduction of a complex-forming agent leads to a decrease in the rate of interaction of the components, resulting in a change in the quantitative composition of the gaseous reaction products. 2. The kinetic principles of the event of initiation, established on the basis of the absence of appreciable complex-forming ability of vinyl chloride with respect to AlEt3, were confirmed. 3. The calculated effectiveness of initiation in the system AlEt3-EA-BP in the polymerization of vinyl chloride is 3 · 10−2.
