Abstract

The vector potential finite element method is used to investigate the distribution parameters of multi-conductor transmission line with the proximity effect. The models of three typical multi-conductor transmission lines are set up and their parameters are calculated. The effects of the proximity effect on the magnetic flux density in the three transmission lines are investigated. The comparison between the computing results and the theoretical results of the distributed inductor of a coax shows that the presented methods is valid. The distributed inductors of two parallel lines and two coupled microstrip lines with the proximity effect are obtained and compared with the results without the proximity effect. The results show that the proximity effect significantly affect the distributed inductor.
