Abstract

This paper focuses on the electrical energy saving potential through the use of coated glazings in a double-glazed curtain wall office building located in Madrid. The compliance with the Spanish building regulations of the glazing types selected has been calculated. The DOE2.1E energy simulation program was used for this study. A savings of approximately 12% in electricity consumption is observed with use of a combination of solar control glass with thermal insulation.
