Abstract
The courses of reaction between hexamethylene diisocyanate or isophorone diisocyanate and 1,4-butanediol, 1,5-pentanediol or triethylene glycol were measured by differential scanning calorimetry. Two types of reaction mixtures, either with excess of hydroxy or with excess of isocyanate componente, were prepared. From DSC curves the enthalpies of reaction, the activation energies and the reaction orders were calculated. For the above systems enthalpies of reaction between-75 and-80 kJ/eq. of urethane bond, activation energies between 74 and 130 kJ/mol and reaction orders between 1.17 and 1.63 were found.
