Abstract

Differential cross-section data were obtained for an incident 3He energy of 24.0 MeV for the 76,78,80,82Se( 3He, d) 77,79,81,83Br reactions. Excitation energies for 42 states in 77Br, 45 states in 79Br, 30 states in 81Br, and 36 states in 83Br were measured with a magnetic spectrograph; the 82Se( 3He, d) 83Br Q-value was also measured and found to be 3207.4 ± 5.6 keV. Angular distributions are compared with the predictions of the DWBA theory to determine l p values, parities, and spectroscopic factors. Assignments of l p have been made for 30 states in 77Br, 26 states in 79Br, 25 states in 81Br, and 21 states in 83Br. Spin assignments for a total of 9 states that have l p = 0 are made. Spectroscopic factors for low-lying states are compared to the predictions of intermediate-coupling model wave functions and the summed spectroscopic factors for the l p = 1, 3, and 4 states are compared to the total limit for the 2 p 3 2 , 1 f 5 2 , 2 p 1 2 and 1 g 9 2 shell-model orbitals.
