Abstract

In this work, the impact of vulcanization parameters on the adhesion strength of conveyor belts was investigated. Multi-ply textile-reinforced conveyor belts were produced at different vulcanization temperatures and times. The glass transition and melting temperature of fibers in the textile carcasses and the trend in vulcanization parameters adopted at conveyor belt-producing companies were considered in determining the vulcanization parameters. Post-vulcanization, the adhesion strength between the plies of the conveyor belt was thoroughly investigated. The study revealed that the adhesion strength of the conveyor belt relies on the vulcanization temperature and time. For the experiment conducted in this work, the optimum adhesion strength of the conveyor belt was found to be 9.9 N/mm at a vulcanization temperature of 160°C for 35 minutes.
