Abstract

Design and analysis softwares are the backbone of today’s rapidly developing engineering world. Due to the unmatched flexibility and fair accuracy of these tools, a modern design engineer relies heavily on these techniques. However, it is very important to note that one should be judgmental enough while accepting the results thus obtained; as these are dependent on many factors such as geometry under consideration, type and size of mesh element, loading condition. This work aims to shed some light on the effect of various parameters such as geometry of object, size, and magnitude of load on the maximum stress values obtained in the analysis. It is concluded that these problems are condition specific and hence no concrete relation could be drawn except some general guidelines.
