Abstract

The effect of mechanical-thermal treatment using the combined radial-shear and pass rolling with subsequent aging on the mechanical properties of the near β VT22 titanium alloy was studied. It was shown that such treatment makes it possible to obtain in the alloy a uniform ultrafine-grained structure with an average size of structure (grain-/- subgrain) elements less than 1 µm and raise the elongation to failure. Subsequent aging leads to the formation of a hierarchically organized structure and allows increase significantly the strength of the rolled VT22 alloy while kept a satisfactory ductility in compare with alloy in the initial state and after radial shear rolling.
