Abstract

We have studied in 164Dy the double-γ excitation with cold neutron capture. Using the GRID method, the 4+ state at 2173 keV was found before to exhibit the decay pattern required for a double-γ vibration. During the analysis of the lifetime measurement several errors have been found in the level scheme. A new study of this nucleus by cold neutron capture at PSI was started. A first experiment of γ−γ coincidence has been performed at the new PGA installation at SINQ and confirms our earlier work. At the same time, we have searched for the 0γγ+ excitation but no such state was observed.
