Abstract

This study describes the composition of Co-W alloy coatings deposited from a citrate-pyrophosphate electrolyte, as well as the effect of the surfactants (SAS) on the quality, morphology, and properties of the coatings obtained. High corrosion resistance of the alloys on the order of 10−5 A cm−2 in a chloride solution and 10−3 A cm−2 in a 6.0 M L−1 KOH solution has been exhibited. The electrocatalytic activity in the reduction reaction of hydrogen in an alkaline medium has been studied, and a substantial decrease of the hydrogen overvoltage as compared to pure cobalt has been established.
