Abstract

Using Monte Carlo methods, we study the (zero-temperature) chiral phase transition in 4D U(1) lattice gauge-Higgs theory with fermions of charge q f = 1 and 2. We report the first comparison between Monte Carlo data and analytic results (applicable at strong gauge coupling), and find very good agreement. In the interior of the phase diagram, the chiral transition is observed to coincide with the confinement-Higgs phase boundary for q f = 1 and to occur at larger β h for q f = 2.
