Abstract

The decomposition of 2-propanol induced by CW−CO2 laser with and without catalyst has been studied. In the presence of catalyst the threshold laser energy for stimulating decomposition is decreased. The reaction products depend on the adsorption states of 2-propanol on the catalyst surface. The mechanism of laser induced surface reaction is discussed.
