Abstract

The principle of reactive and expansion mufflers is that it reflects sound wave back to the direction of sound source at certain sections where acoustic behavior changes abruptly in the pipe of mufflers, to achieve muffling performance. Usually it is used for muffling the noise created by diesel, alternator at low and media frequency. GT-Power software is used in this paper to build a computer stimulation platform, through which the influence of basic structure, single-expansion chamber and insertion pipe on muffling performance are analyzed, providing reference for better design of reactive mufflers.
