Abstract

The adsorption of Methyl Violet from aqueous solution onto fly-ash has been carried out under varying reaction conditions, viz., concentration of dye, agitation time, solution pH and temperature. The process follows the first-order rate expression. The equilibrium data conforms to the Langmuir model of adsorption. Maximum removal of dye was observed in the pH range 2.5–8.5 and the process is found to be endothermic and diffusion controlled.
